Coming Together

December 1, 2014
Coming Together

Like a mother who can’t stay away from her kids for too long, I am back to mollycoddle this little love of ours (we treat the blog like our baby) with an update. With just a few months (two, to be precise) to go for the wedding, everything has reached a feverish pitch. We have been busier, tired-er and generally very preoccupied with all that is happening around us. The fact that we live in two different continents makes this task slightly more difficult and stressful. But we have been coping, because we can see something beautiful and everlasting unfold right before our eyes – the Coming Together of two families.

And that is just one part of the silver lining!

Happy Birthday, Mum!

November 8, 2014
Moms are the best

Mum and I fight a lot but we are still the best of friends. I don’t know when we transitioned from the mother-daughter relationship to my-mother-is-my-best-friend phase but I am so glad we did. I have shared with her every little detail of my life…the good, bad and the ugly and she has only looked at me with kind reassuring eyes without ever being judgmental. My mother has taught me what unconditional love is and how important it is to give without any expectations. She has seen me through sickness, bad phases and every little ups and downs by standing by me like a rock. She has taught me to pick my battles. You win some, you lose some; let it go is an important lesson I have learnt from her. She has taught me to be patient and kind even when the other person is not. She has taught me to see only the good in people. She has taught me that sometimes it is important to put others’ happiness before yours. She has taught me how a few kind words can touch someone’s life. She has taught me what it takes to nurture and grow a loving relationship. She has taught me the value of money and how to save for a rainy day. She has taught me to be respectful of others’ feelings. She has taught me the importance of a prayer.

Above all, she has taught me how to love…

Happy Birthday, Mum!

PS: Her birthday was on November 7 and it should have gone up yesterday but then sometimes life happens.

General Life Lately Our Story

OurInfinity & Beyond

October 19, 2014
The Fault In Our Stars, Google Play Store, Whatsapp

R isn’t much of a reader so it was a very special moment for me when I got him to read ‘The Fault In Our Stars’.  He fell in love with the book and both of us were obsessed with it for a very long time. Though the book romanticises the disease a fair bit, we liked how the dialogues between the two lead characters were so brutally honest and real.

The gut-wrenchingly beautiful tale, which is a heady brew of romance, triumphs, and losses, left an indelible mark on us. We were so invested in the book and the characters that when we were deciding a name for our blog, we took inspiration from it.

The quote from the book: “some infinities are bigger than other infinities,” is largely what inspired us to name our blog ‘Ourinfinity’. However, over the last few months, we have come to realise that it also exemplifies our stance on what we are set out to do.

Our forever begins here, and we hope you join us on this wondrous journey.

Here’s to ‘our’ infinity and beyond…cheers!

How Ourinfinity came to be and R’s take on it:

I believe we have a choice in this world to not tell sad stories…How often does a movie trailer grab your attention from the very first second? Not very often, right? but then sometimes you come across something so beautiful that it leaves a mark on you. I was hooked the moment L shared the trailer of ‘The Fault In Our Stars’. I was so intrigued that I ended up on YouTube to repeatedly watch the extended trailer. Since we couldn’t watch the movie together, L suggested we read the book instead. I was totally up for it and was about to hit buy on Google Play Store but had to wait till L’s order of the paperback version arrived (she still prefers the old school way of reading). When we finally started reading, she went quiet for a good three odd hours while I muscled my way through a few chapters before L WhatsApp-ed me to say she was done. To this date that is one jaw-dropping moment for me! When we were mulling about what to name our blog, I wanted the word ‘infinity’ to be a part of it as we were (and still are) in awe of the book. After a week of deciding ‘Ourinfinity’ was born.

PS: This post is special for so many reasons; the most important one being R’s first appearance on the blog.

We do the Couple Tag!

he says, she says

collage

1) He/she’s sitting in front of the TV what is on the screen?

L says: A movie most definitely.
R says: She doesn’t watch much TV as far as I know but if she’s sitting in front of a TV all by herself then it surely must be a Hollywood flick.

2) What’s one food he/she doesn’t like?
L says: Cheese!
R says: It’s food!!! She loves them all (more than me).

3) You go out to eat and have a drink what does he/she order?
L says: Hmmm…a beer, maybe? And anything that doesn’t have cheese in it. Mostly a chicken dish.
R says: Crab, maybe? She’d order something which I’d be hearing for the first time in my life and would most certainly end up saying “Babe you have to try this”

4) What size shoe does he/she wear?
L says:
A 7 I’m guessing.
R says: 5 maybe.

5) If he/she was collecting anything what would it be?
L says:
Anything techy. Phones most probably.
R says: The easiest question “books”.

6) What would he/she eat everyday if he could?
L says:
Sweets and desserts!
R says: Pizza!

7) What’s his/her favourite music?
L says:
EDM
R says: No favourites, listens to anything which is relaxing.

8) What’s his/her favourite sports team?
L says:
Manchester United
R says: None at the moment but she will be a red devil soon. A blog post with a picture to follow shortly.

9) What’s his/her eye color?
L says:
I am going to hazard a guess and say dark brown.
R says: Black

10) What is something you do that he/she wishes you wouldn’t?
L says:
Silent treatment
R says: Resist food

11) Did he/she play any sports?
L says:
Yes. Cricket, Football, Squash… you name it.
R says: None

12) What could he/she spend hours doing?
L says:
Watching football
R says: Reading

13) What is one unique talent he/she has?
L says:
The ability to plan everything to perfection. Oh, and to make me belly laugh!
R says: Writing. She can write like you are witnessing it live.

Note: Both of us got only one answer wrong. I have brown eyes and his shoe size is 9.

PS: When I first suggested we do the couple tag, R was hesitant saying we must wait till we start living together. I insisted that the whole point of this was to gauge how well we know each other and not how perfectly.
